Comments about Stansted 10K Fun Run 15th June 2008

A big ‘Thank you’ from all our family for the great run last Sunday. David Carter, Stansted

Hi ,just to say well done all- great run and fun. Best one I’ve done so far, thanks. I’m only down the road in Chelmsford. I did the run with my wife, sister and work colleague. We all enjoyed the day. Eddie Driscoll, Chelmsford

Can you pass my thanks to all involved as I thought Sunday was brilliantly organised and was great fun. Any chance of making it an annual event? Mike Linegar, Takeley

Many thanks for such a great run today, I greatly enjoyed it! Ted Dwyer, Bishop’s Stortford

Well organised well marshalled and enjoyable except the last hill Thank you. Keith Thorogood, Gestingthorpe

Thank you to everyone involved for yesterday's event. There's clearly a lot of hard work goes into organising it (including, I'm sure of it, serious efforts to make those hills bigger than last time !) but you should be congratulated for making the whole thing appear to run so smoothly. I certainly intend to look out for the race in 2010. I also appreciate the Hassiobury estate opening up their path for the race. [Just one point - and I only mention it to try to be helpful for future races. I think the 7k marker was slightly long - I estimate it should have been placed about 150-200 yards earlier. But perhaps you were restricted by the fact of it being on the private estate.] Tony Browne, Waltham Cross

I would like to say thanks so much for the excellent organisation of the Stansted 10 K run yesterday. The weather was perfect with a nice cooling breeze throughout the course. Plenty of very encouraging stewards, water stops throughout the route.  Having only started running 7 weeks ago this was my first race, I was very excited and nervous at the same time. Upon arrival I was put at ease whilst being surrounded by a fantastic family atmosphere on the village green. The route was beautiful throughout and I loved the challenge of the hills, I eventually finished in 1hr 3mins and was ecstatic to be given a medal and a hat. I will treasure this as a first of many. I have already booked to do a 10 m in 6 weeks and half Marathon in Sept. I truly have the bug, thanks again and see you next time.  Helen Hopkins, London

We had a great morning and our Chiropractors were kept busy. Congratulations to you and all your helpers, it was expertly executed and it felt like everyone really pulled together, it was a pleasure to be a part of it. Veronica Iliffe, Stansted Chiropractic Clinic

A really excellent morning, a great run and very well organised.  Shame it cant be EVERY year and any chance of the results a little sooner.  Seems a long wait.  Big thanks. Jason Tyrrell

I have been asked to pass on some feedback concerning the fun run on Sunday.  I really enjoyed the run. I felt it was very well organised especially at the beginning with the 'warm up' (although I didn't take part - I usually do my own thing).  It was a really good idea.  The end of the race was well supported and every runner was announced which I felt was really great and gave you the energy for the last spurt.  The course was lovely - challenging but good.  some of the water stations were a little slow with the water, but it was really hot so this could have explained why.  I certainly drank more than I usually do.  The marshalls were all friendly and well placed.  There was a lot of banter between racers and marshalls and they were all very positive and encouraging.

The only thing that I didn't like was in the beginning when all the runners were bunched up - was having to run on the main road.  I would have preferred to do that perhaps at the end of the race when everyone was more spaced out. (But then I hate the first 2km's of any race!)  I know that a lot of thought and planning went into the race and whilst these are not criticisms at all they are just my view of the race.  I will certainly be running it again.  I hope that this helps. Brenda Morelli, Great Notley

In short: challenging, friendly, enjoyable 10k. In full: This was my second time at this event which is really friendly, well organised and an enjoyable race, weather was kinder this year than in 2006. Hilly yes, scenic yes, well organised yes, friendly yes, run it again yes yes yes. Great race for all abilities.

In short: First time run, will be back. In full: The scenery was by far the best part of the race. There was an odd part right at the start of the 10k where we went onto a main road and had to run past an open petrol station (dodging cars!) thought this was quite dangerous and needless as once past this there was loads of countryside en-route to run in. Advice to anyone novice or beginner: save your energy, there are some large inclines, especially one right near the end! Fantastic having physio/massage stalls at the end, raising money for the charity. Was especially helpful as I was nursing an injury and was able to find out what was going on and what I could do about it. Main Negative: Large queue at pub for toilets(please invest in lots of loos next year!) Main Positive: Scenery, absolutely breathtaking-English countryside in the summer at it's best. Those hills won't beat me, I will be back!

In short: Well supported, tough local event, Loved it! In full: Very nice scenic but challenging course. Great organisation until I discovered that that my time wasn't recorded in the finishing tent. Saying that, it's now my local event and I'll definitely be back again in 2 years time.

In short: Best organized race yet. In full: So well organized - right from the easy to see directions for where to park, then directed to start of event. Start and finish close together no miles of walking. Loads of water stations. Water , medal and cap at finish. Plenty of marshalls. Race over good, if very hilly course. I'll be back.

In short: Great atmosphere. Demanding multi-terrain course.  In full: Not much to add. Really well organised, friendly, nice location, good facilities. Everything you could want from a local Sunday 10k except a flat course!

In short: First time for me and loved every minute! In full: Found the Stansted 10k great in every aspect! From the very good organisation to the fairly tough but enjoyable route this is definitely a run I would recommend. There were some challenging hills (one near the end which is a killer lo!) but very scenic route. Most of the route is on road or hard track so easier on the feet. First time and I would with no doubt do the race again...thanks for a great day!

In short: Thoroughly enjoyable! In full: Lovely village atmosphere. It was easy to park the car. Loads of marshals. There must've been at least 5 drinks stations. Two gifts at the end: a medal and a baseball cap. Apart from the kilometre markers being slightly inaccurate, it was an excellent race!

In short: Good challenging 10k. In full: Very well organised race with lots of water stations. Marshall's were brilliant and so were the views. Course was challenging with some hills that were really hard work.  Hope to be back for the next one.

In short: Friendly, well-organised, good fun. In full: A definite charity event, with a very friendly feel to it. Course was well laid out, with varied terrain, lots of water points, and a few well-placed hills!
